Local 5K and Halloween Festival Raises Nearly $15,000 for Local Foster Youth

The Yavapai CASA for Kids Foundation is excited to announce the success of its Tenth Annual Costumes for Kids 5K and Halloween Festival, which took place on Saturday, October 26th, benefitting the county’s foster youth.

The event was held at the Prescott Courthouse Plaza and proved to be a morning filled with laughter, smiles, fun challenges, and the spirit of togetherness. Participants enjoyed costume contests across five categories, live music to keep the energy high, raffles, refreshments provided by Sprouts, Crumbl Cookie, Starbucks, and Pepsi, a free lunch, and a challenging 5K run with a 1-mile option.

“I was here at the very first 5K, where there only two vendors and about 25 people max,” Said Eric Costanios of Fly By Night Entertainment.

Highlighting the event’s immense growth, this year’s event drew in a crowd of over 300 participants ranging in age from infants to ninety-two-year-olds. There were a total of 19 vendor booths and it raised $14,559 between donations, sponsorships, and participation fees. The funds raised will go towards the Yavapai CASA for Kids Foundation’s programs to help support the needs of over 300 children in foster care and those who have aged out of foster care in the county.

“This milestone event was well received by everyone who attended,” said Mona Stephens, Development Director at Yavapai CASA for Kids Foundation. “Some attendees shared that this event has become a family tradition, and we couldn’t be more thankful for what that means for the kids in our care.”

Beyond being a fun-filled day, the event aimed to make a meaningful impact on the lives of the community’s most vulnerable youth. The Foundation extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who came together to support this cause.

The Yavapai CASA for Kids Foundation would especially like to express deep appreciation to the event’s generous sponsors and supporters, whose contributions were key to the event’s success. Sponsors included Findlay Auto Group, Allied Electric, Fann Contracting, Dr. Bobby Raber DMD, Yavapai Pediatrics, Slater & Rutherford CPA, Staples, Desert Financial, VIP Auto and RV Sales, Sheridan Property Group, Allegra, AZ Home Town Radio, The Prescott Times, Charlie James Artisan, Goettles High Desert Mechanical, Pickles Lea Yoga, Hansen Enterprises Fleet Repair, Nick Pease Photography, and many others who gave their time and resources.
