Saturday, June 15th, the Yavapai CASA for Kids Foundation held its ninth annual Champions for Children Gala, themed “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at the enchanting Windmill House. The event was a resounding success, leaving attendees inspired and deeply connected to the mission of supporting foster youth in Yavapai County.
The gala achieved its primary goal of raising awareness and highlighting the impactful work of the Yavapai CASA for Kids Foundation. The event provided a platform to showcase the foundation’s significant achievements in supporting over 300 foster children from our county this year alone. Through generous donations and community support, the foundation has provided essential resources valued at over $100,000, including tutoring services, beds, therapeutic aids, and bicycles to aid in their transitions.
“We are thrilled with the overwhelming support and enthusiasm shown at our gala,” said Mona Stephens, Development Director. “It’s heartening to see our community come together to make a tangible difference in the lives of these vulnerable children.”
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the first-ever Champions for Children Award, recognizing individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to foster youth and those aging out of the system. This year’s deserving recipients were Jo Zutell, a dedicated CASA volunteer for 11 years, and Danita Carson, for her outstanding advocacy and support.
“We are immensely proud to honor Jo Zutell and Danita Carson for their unwavering commitment and tireless efforts on behalf of our foster youth,” added Ms. Stephens.
The gala was made possible through the generous support of sponsors, whose contributions have been instrumental in helping the foundation fulfill its mission. The Yavapai CASA for Kids Foundation wants to express their appreciation to the sponsors of this year’s gala; High Desert Finishes, Rox Media, the Prescott Times, the Daily Courier, LaBenz Law, Prescott Woman Magazine, Makayla Chadwick State Farm, Yavapai Title, Johnson Patio Covers, Slater and Rutherford CPAs, Lazy L Ranch, Milter Foundation, Charlie James Artisan, Esteban Music, Fly by Night Entertainment, Blushing Cactus, StarStruck Event Planning, and the Windmill House.
Their dedication underscores the community’s collective commitment to ensuring every child in foster care has the support and resources they need to thrive.
