The Badgers came out strong in their season opener, knocking off the St. Mary’s Hall Barons 76-40 in the first round of the “Fear the Hop Tournament” hosted by Mesa High School.
Uriah Tenette led all scorers with 35 points and seven assists. Zane Gaul had a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds, and Josiah Peoples dished out eleven assists, and had six steals and five rebounds, to go along with four points.
The Barons, from San Antonio, Texas, entered the contest at (4-0), but the Badgers came out with a pressurizing plan that ultimately took over the game for the 36 point win.
The second day and game did not go as planned as the Dysart Demons downed the Badgers 68-56. Prescott held the lead at halftime, but the Demons came out and took control in the third quarter, pulling away in the final minutes for the fourteen point win. Uriah Tenette scored 23 and Zane Gaul added 17.
Day three concluded with a Badgers 75-59 win over the Cienega Bobcats. Uriah Tenette led all scorers with 39, plus dished out seven assists.
The fourth and final game saw the Badgers rough up last years 4A semifinalists ALA-Gilbert North 66-43. Prescott dominated as both first team tournament selection Uriah Tenette tossed in 32, and second team selection Zane Gaul had another double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Tenette finished the tournament averaging 32 points, six assists, five rebounds, and two and half steals. Gaul averaged 17 points, 10 rebounds, two steals, and two blocked shots.
Prescott (2-1) will play their first home game on December 1 versus Mountain Ridge at 7pm in the Badger Dome.

Girls Basketball
The Lady Badgers opened up their season with a four game tournament at Mountain Ridge High School in Glendale. Prescott dropped their opener 56-51 to Higley.
The team rebounded to win the next two, 81-73 over Agua Fria and 58-30 over Thunderbird. Raymond Kellis took the finale 70-59.
Prescott (2-2), will host Deer Valley tonight at 5:30pm.
