At approximately 7:21 p.m. on Sunday, November 26, 2023, fire crews from the Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority (CAFMA) were dispatched to a reported structure fire in the vicinity of North Quen Sabe Lane in Paulden, Arizona. En route, responding units observed heavy smoke coming from the area and immediately upgraded the incident to a working structure fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters confronted a single-family dwelling fully engulfed in fire. Crews began defensive operations and were able to protect surrounding structures. Firefighters encountered challenges due to the substantial use of dense building materials in the home’s construction and the distinctive layout of the house, necessitating extended efforts to effectively bring the fire under control. Fire crews will remain on-site throughout Monday, November 27, 2023, to ensure complete extinguishment of the fire.
Sadly, a male, the sole occupant of the residence, was found deceased within the home. The circumstances surrounding the fire are presently under investigation, and CAFMA will release no further information at this time.
There were no injuries to emergency personnel.
CAFMA would like to thank the following people and agencies for their assistance: APS, Chino Valley Police Department, Fire Investigator Brett Lucas (Prescott Fire Department), the Prescott Regional Communications Center, UniSource, and the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office.
