Two Players Sweep in Pinon Pines Tournament – Ron Williams

Trisha Lincoln in her game with Cody Williams, who is waiting for his turn.

Two winners went undefeated in their class at the Pinon Pines Horseshoe Tournament held at Watson Lake Park in Prescott. Trisha Lincoln and Steve Harman were both sharp when it came to throwing those shoes, leaving no doubt who was the best in their respective classes..

Comfortable temperatures and a slight breeze made for the best of conditions for the players during the tournament hosted by the Mile Hi Horseshoe Club.

Class A matched up three determined players, but it was Trisha Lincoln who went undefeated to take the tournament title, pitching 66.50 on the day, 2.76 over her season average. Hal Handelman finished second, and Cody Williams third. The games were mostly close, adding to the suspense of the players. Lincoln needed to overcome handicaps in each of her games.

Class B welcomed the return of both Jay Mast and Steve Harman. It was Steve who was sharp from the get go. Harman swept the field finishing with a perfect 6-0 mark. Emmett Jones had to battle hard to take second place, splitting his six games just ahead of Jay Mast, who finished third.

John Lincoln sat this one out, electing to use his scorekeeping skills during the event.

Up next, Prescott Valley will host the first of the back-to-back tournaments this weekend on Saturday at American Legion Park. Prescott will host its final tournament of 2025 on Sunday at Watson Lake. Start time is 9am for each day.
