The Prescott Badgers Flag football team closed out a near perfect season last year, but fell 10-7 to the St Mary’s Knights in the 4A championship to finish (15-1).
This season the Badgers are on a quest to finish off what they started a year ago and accomplished a big part of that on Monday with a 20-0 win at St. Mary’s.
Last night the Badgers hosted the Tempe Buffaloes and made quick work of the visitors in a 67-0 win.
Rianna Aguilar scored the first two touchdowns on runs of 8 and 4 yards as Prescott led 14-0 after one quarter. Aguilar threw for 220 yards and two touchdowns said, “We wanted to come out quickly and get things going and we did that. We had that big game at St. Mary’s and then yesterday was a rest day for us, but we came out and did what we had to. We just need to keep practicing and get stronger and better in each game.”
In regards to the St. Mary’s game, “That was a game we really wanted. After losing in the championship last year, we were waiting just to get another chance at them. So that was huge for us to get that done.”

The Badgers defense limited the Buffaloes offense to only their side of the field the entire night. After Aguilar threw a touchdown pass to Mallory Walsh to make it 21 -0, Halle Terelak-Foster returned a pass interception for a pick-six to make it 28-0.
Terelak-Foster picked off her second pass of the game setting up the offense one more time in Tempe territory. Kaylin Pinarelli scored from a yard out to close out the first half with a 35-0 Badger lead.

Maggie Maneely led all receivers with 111 yards and a touchdown said, “It was a good game. I think I have some stuff to work personally, and we need to work on some stuff, some basics, like some plays that we haven’t run in a game before. It was also nice to get some second string players in.” Maneely also was very happy to get the win at St. Mary’s. “It felt really good. It was a great win for us especially after we lost to them in the championship last year.”

Prescott would add two more touchdowns in the third quarter on a pass from Aguilar to Maneely following a pick-six by Kaylin Pinarelli as a running clock made the entire second half go by quick. Three more scores in the fourth on touchdown passes from Brinkley Larson to Mallory Walsh and Aubrey Kitahata. The final touchdown came on a pick-six by Noelia Buelna closing out the game.
The Badgers recorded 8 interceptions in the game. Terelak-Foster had two, with Aguilar, Maneely, Pinarelli, Buelna, Brinkley Larson, and Addy Brandon with one each.
Coach Ryan Hart said, “That was interesting. I’m proud of the Buffaloes for coming out and working. They took a hard loss last night and drove up here to play us. We were coming off that big win at St. Mary’s, which can be an emotional letdown. We have a lot of things to clean up. We are trying some offensive stuff and it’s not quite dialed in yet. We have some new players out there playing and they got a taste of what it is like on our home field. So we will get back at it and focus on cleaning some things up.”
Tempe fell to (0-2) after their second straight 67-0 lost, the first coming at Paradise Honors.
The Badgers (2-0) will host Pinnacle on Monday at 6pm.
