Bears Fall to Arcadia while Badgers Pick Up Road Win – Ron Williams

The student section kept the spirits of the home crowd up throughout the game.

Arcadia at Bradshaw Mountain

2 Casey Baumann wraps up 1 Konnor Kammes as 34 Antonio Valenzuela ready to finish off the play.

Quarterback Zach Smith threw for 255 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Arcadia Titans to a 37-8 win over the Bradshaw Mountain Bears in Prescott Valley.

Arcadia took the opening kickoff and went 80 yards on nine plays, scoring when Smith connected with Ryan Jimenez on a 31 yard touchdown pass. Caleb Young added the extra point for a 7-0 lead.

The Bears started at their own 20 after Smith kicked the first of his seven touchbacks. Bradshaw Mountain proceeded to go three and out, gaining just six yards.

The Titans mixed it up with a miss direction play as Smith handed the ball off to Konnor Kammes who bolted 43 yards untouched for a two score lead. Young hit the upright and the score remained 13-0.

The Bears had a golden opportunity to score on their second possession as they drove 79 yards, but turnover the ball on downs at the Titans one yard line.

Arcadia would take the ball the distance, going 99 yards and scoring on a one yard run by Jax Ashley for a 20-0 lead midway through the second quarter.

Bradshaw Mountain turned the ball over on their next possession when defensive back Nick McCormick stepped in front of the Bears receiver giving the Titans the ball at midfield.

Arcadia settled for a 27 yard field goal to close out the first half with a 23-0 lead.

The Bears came out in the second half determined to get the goose egg off the scoreboard. Bradshaw succeeded on a fourth and two at their own 28, but ended up punting near midfield, but what the Bears needed was about to happen.

25 Kylin Jackson splits two defenders 49 Max Arrieta and 3 Peyton Mcintosh.

During the play, Ely Vaca was coming down field and stripped the ball from Ashley on the return. Kylin Jackson was right there to fall on it, giving new life for the offense. The Bears scored with 3:03 left in the third quarter when Landon Taggart pulled in a Sanford pass from nine yards out. The two point attempt was good to pull the Bears within 15 points at 23-8.

After nearly nine minutes without an offensive play, Arcadia was anxious to get back on the field. The Titans would burn up the remainder of the third quarter and score on six yard run by McCormick for a 30-8 lead with 11 minutes remaining.

Another touchdown by the Titans with seven minutes left closed out the scoring on a 45 yard pass from Smith to Ashley.

Bradshaw Mountain was led by Kylin Jackson with 108 yards on 21 carries. Quarterback Michael Sanford was 7-17-1 55 yards and a touchdown pass to Landon Taggart.
