It was another good day for horseshoes at the Watson Lake courts in Prescott as the Mile Hi Horseshoe Club hosted the Steel Shoe Classic.

The day began with Trisha Lincoln nailing a 75% ringer percentage in her opening game with Brian Belcher, and it looked like she would roll through the competition.
It would come down to the final game to determine the tournament winner. John Lincoln was quietly picking off one after another with a ringer percentage as high as 67.5% and went on to post a (5-1) record on the day. John ended up pitching 2.86% above his season average edging Trisha for the title. This came about when Hal Handelman narrowly beat Trisha Lincoln 23-22 on the final game of the day, slipping her to second place. Handelman used that victory to finish third on the day.
David Kleidosty made the trip up from the valley, started slowly but picked up momentum as the day progressed. Kleidosty at one point threw eight ringers in a row, equaling Trisha’s accomplishment in her first contest.
Prescott Valley has a tournament at American Legion Park on Bob Drive this Saturday beginning at 8am.
Prescott will host their next tournament at Watson Lake on Saturday, September 6 beginning at 9am. Anyone interested in pitching horseshoes is welcomed to come out.
