Rollover Accident Iron Springs Road: Requiring Extrication – Prescott Fire Department

On Thursday morning, July 20th at about 9:00 AM Prescott Regional Communications Center started to receive multiple 911 calls about a car accident that occurred on Iron Springs Road in the area of Spence Springs Road in Prescott. When the initial Prescott fire engine arrived on scene, they found a single vehicle rollover accident with one patient still trapped inside the vehicle. Central Arizona Fire and Medical (CAFMA) was able to use their extrication equipment to remove the patient from the vehicle.

The sole occupant of the vehicle was a 42-year-old male who appeared to be properly wearing his seatbelt and his complaint was head pain and left hand pain secondary to the rollover. He was transported to Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott for possible head and other injuries. Multiple fire crews were on scene for about a half an hour after the accident working to clean up the debris that was still on the roadway. After the roadway was cleaned, and law-enforcement was done with their investigation, the roadway was re-opened to traffic.

It is critical that all safety restraints be used in a vehicle at all times. Airbags may deploy in a car accident but without the proper use of a shoulder and lap seatbelt, those airbags may be ineffective in a vehicle collision. Seatbelts do, indeed, save lives… Use them every time!
