On July 15, 2023, at approximately 8:34 p.m. Prescott Police officers responded to the Star Mart Convenience store located at 1325 Iron Springs Road after having received a 911 call about a male suspect threatening with a handgun.
Officers arrived on scene to learn that the male suspect exited the store and for no apparent reason became verbally aggressive, cursing and yelling at a family that was parked next to him. Included in the family was a 15-year-old and 17-year-old, who were seated in the vehicle. The father of the children intervened telling the suspect to stop cursing at his children. The suspect then produced a handgun and pointed it at the chest of the father as well as his children. The family retreated to the other side of their vehicle, while the suspect got into his vehicle and drove away prior to police arrival
Investigators followed up on this case and were able to identify the suspect as Matthew Massucci, a 25-year-old Prescott resident.
On July 20, 2023 at approximately 7:10 p.m. Massucci was located and stopped driving the same vehicle in the 1600 block of Iron Springs Road. Officers located a 9mm handgun, which matched the one described by the victims, inside Massucci’s vehicle. Massucci was arrested and booked into the Yavapai County Jail on felony charges of Aggravated Assault as well as Misconduct Involving Weapons.
