The Prescott Badgers had four starters score in double figures as they blew past the Mingus Marauders 76-48 in the Badger Dome.

Uriah Tenette led all scorers with 27 in another solid performance.  Jake Hilton scored 16, Zane Gaul 13, and Cooper Magnett had 10. The Badgers jumped on top, leading 13-4 midway through the first quarter after Jake Hilton glided to the basket on a nice dish by Tenette. The Marauders put good use to a timeout, responding with a 9-0 run to tie the game at 13 with two minutes left in the quarter. Tenette went on his own run of seven straight to close out the first quarter, giving the home team a 20-13  lead.

Tenette said, “I got off to a good start tonight, and had some good looks and just went for it. We played good as a team and moved the ball around a lot for better shots. Our defensive pressure set us up for some easy baskets. We are just trying to get better every game.”

The Badgers went up 31-17 after the pressure got to the Marauders, starting with a three from the corner by Gaul and wide open lanes to the basket for layups by Hilton and Magnett. Prescott led 38-23 at the half.

David Rodriquez kept Mingus in the game for awhile, leading the Marauders with 19. Another junior, Isaiah Lathon added 10, but Prescott used pressure defense to get a lot steals and scores, ultimately leading to a running clock.

The Prescott lead grew to 46-25 on strong moves through the paint by Gaul and Hilton. Gaul finished with seven rebounds. Hilton had three steals that all led to baskets including a dunk, for a 48-25 lead. Tenette followed with one of his five steals and a layup for a 50-25 lead.  Micah Buettner slmmed one down for a 59-31 advantage as the Badgers led 63-36 after three quarters.

The largest lead, plus starting the running clock, came when Tenette drilled a three pointer very early in the fourth quarter.  Shortly after he and Gaul left the game and the benches got a fair amount of playing time. The Badgers improved to (4-1) in the Grand Canyon Region, and (12-2) overall, will host Mohave on Friday at 7 pm.
