Playoff Ready Badgers Sweep Paradise Valley : Volleyball team falls to Bradshaw Mountain

Playoff time is here and there is some unfinished business on the agenda for the Badgers after they closed out their perfect regular season with a 9-0 sweep over Paradise Valley.

The Badgers will host Casteel in the first round on Tuesday at 4 pm. Individually, Megan Townsend and Lindsay Carter will compete in the singles tournament. Riley Crockett and Elle Long will compete in the  doubles action, starting tomorrow and will end on Saturday.

All playoff games will be hosted by the higher seeds until the championship, played in consecutive days beginning Tuesday, October 25 at 4 pm. The championship match will be held at Desert Vista High School in South Phoenix, on Thursday, October 27, at 6 pm.

Volleyball

The Bradshaw Mountain Bears beat the Badgers 3-0 in the Badger Dome to conclude the season series sweep. The Bears led the entire match, with the exception of two ties, one each in game two and game three.

The Bears jumped on top in game one 5-0. Trailing 8-1, Badger coach Liz Whitwell called timeout to settle her team down, and that seemed to work as Prescott closed to within 8-5 Prescott got within two at 21-19, when Bradshaw Mountain coach Karrie Platt called timeout. Another point by the Badgers brought them to within one at 21-20.  The Bears got it together and were able to go onto win by four, 25-21.

Game two the game was tied at one, before the Bears put some space between them and the Badgers. Prescott trailed by as six, pulling within one at 15-14. The Badgers hung close till Bradshaw outscored Prescott 9-2 to win 25-17.

The Badgers were tied at one again, but the Bears slowly krept away, building as much as a nine point lead, 12-3.  Prescott pulled once again close to get within one at 14-13, before Bradshaw Mountain pulled away again down the stretch for a four point win. The Badgers will travel to Kingman to face Lee Williams tonight at 6 pm.
