Reid, Barney, and Handelman Earn Tournament Wins

The Mile Hi Memorial Horseshoe Pitching Tournament was held at the Watson Lake courts on Saturday.

The three classes of pitchers battled it out on a beautiful day in Prescott.

Bruce Reid, from Congress, had 100 ringers on the day and that was good enough to help him win first place in the Class A division. Steve Harman rallied  to take second place.

Class B saw John Barney taking the top spot with five wins in six games. Jay Mast, who had the most ringers in the division, took second.

Hal Handelman won the Class C division, beating out Terry Sloan who had to settle for second.

The next local tournament will be held next Saturday at Prescott Valley. Prescott Mile Hi Horseshoe Club will host a tournament on Saturday, August 28.

Trisha Lincoln, Tournament Director in Prescott Valley said, “We all know about horseshoes, but perhaps you don’t know that it is a family oriented sport that has been around for years. It’s fun and competitive for all ages. It’s more than just a game you play at family reunions and BBQ’s. It’s a real sport that is played around the country. Check out horseshoepitching.com or contact me for more details. I look forward to pitching horseshoes with you. Come join us!”
