On May 20, 2025, Prescott Valley Police officers attempted to stop a blue Yamaha motorcycle for reckless driving on State Route 69. The rider was lane-splitting at high speeds and riding recklessly as he was weaving through traffic. When an officer attempted to stop the motorcycle, the rider fled through residential streets at extreme speeds. Officers did not pursue the motorcycle because of the potential danger to the community.
On May 21, 2025, PVPD officers again tried to stop the same motorcycle for excessive speed. As soon as the rider saw the officer, he began passing cars over the double yellow, running red lights, and traveling at extreme speeds. Again, officers did not pursue the motorcycle because of the potential danger to the community. The motorcycle was last seen going over 100 MPH on Glassford Hill Road in the 35 MPH Zone.
Using surveillance cameras from local businesses, officers were able to determine that it was the same motorcycle that fled from officers both times. The motorcycle did not have a license plate; however, officers were still able to determine the rider. The motorcycle was located and impounded on a 20-day hold. The rider turned himself in to the police department on May 29, 2025. The rider was booked into the Yavapai County Jail on both Unlawful Flight Cases.
The Prescott Valley Police Department urges all motorcycle riders to adjust their speed according to road conditions, respect posted speed limits, and always prioritize safety. Speeding on a motorcycle significantly increases the risk of losing control, reduces reaction time to hazards, and can lead to more severe accidents and injuries. By riding responsibly and staying aware, we can all work together to keep our roads safe for everyone.
