Update: Ongoing Investigation for Structure Fire on Yavapai Road East – Prescott Valley Police Department

The Prescott Valley Police Department (PVPD) and Central Arizona Fire & Medical Authority (CAFMA) are investigating an incident that occurred on Thursday, September 12, 2024.
At approximately 8:17am, authorities responded to reports of a woman screaming for help, gunshots, and a fire at a residence in the 3100 block of Yavapai Road East. Upon arrival, police and fire personnel encountered an active fire and heard gunshots coming from inside the home.
As police and fire arrived on the scene, shots could still be heard coming from inside the residence. This initially resulted in police and fire completing evacuations of local neighbors, then taking defensive positions before approaching the fully engulfed residence.
After shots were no longer heard, the structure fire was suppressed and extinguished. The investigation resulted in the recovery of three deceased people who were located inside the residence. This included two deceased adult female victims (ages 57 and 54) both with multiple gunshot wounds, and a deceased adult male (52). Investigation revealed that the male suffered from an apparent single gunshot wound.
The preliminary investigation suggests that this is a double homicide followed by suicide. The investigation has revealed no outstanding suspects in this case and there is no danger to community. No police or fire personnel were injured during their response or during this investigation. This matter is still under investigation by the PVPD and CAFMA.
