CAFMA Firefighters Quickly Extinguish Fires at United Disposal in Paulden

On Monday, December 3, 2024, at approximately 4:48 p.m., Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority (CAFMA) firefighters quickly extinguished a structure fire and garbage truck fire at United Disposal, 50 West United Way, in Paulden, Arizona.

Initial reports indicated a fire in a mechanic bay. As crews responded, they observed a column of black smoke in the distance.

Upon arrival, they discovered a garbage truck fully engulfed in flames, with the fire extending to a conex [storage container] box, the overhead canopy, and threatening a nearby office building.

Firefighters rapidly knocked down the structure fire, successfully preventing it from spreading to the neighboring building.

They also extinguished the fire in the truck’s cab and used a saw to cut the hinges on the cargo area, enabling them to fully extinguish the flames and thoroughly check for hot spots. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

CAFMA extends its gratitude to all their public safety and community partners, including the dispatchers at the Prescott Regional Communications Center, for their dedication and assistance.
