Wildland fire in the Saddleview/Prescott Ridge area of Prescott Valley

Emergency crews responded Saturday to a wildland fire sparked by fence welding in the Saddleview/Prescott Ridge area of Prescott Valley. The fire burned roughly 10 acres of grass and brush and approached within 30 feet of nearby homes.

Before crews arrived, Saddleview and Prescott Ridge neighbors jumped into action bringing water trucks, tractors, shovels, and fire extinguishers to slow the fire’s spread. Their efforts helped buy critical time until firefighters could take over.

Firefighters worked quickly and effectively, establishing a perimeter, stopping the fire’s progress, and safeguarding surrounding properties, even as winds added complexity to the response. A CAFMA drone provided aerial support to guide suppression efforts and monitor hot spots.

Thanks to the rapid, coordinated efforts of CAFMA, Prescott Fire Department, U.S. Forest Service – Prescott National Forest, Prescott Valley Police Department, and Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, no structures were lost.
