On March 29th, 2024, at approximately 9:53 A.M. Prescott Police officers along with the Prescott Fire Department responded to the report of an injury collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Goodwin Street and Pleasant Street.
Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that a 2009 GMC Acadia, being driven by 40-year-old Prescott women, had been travelling east on Goodwin Street when it attempted to make a left turn to travel north onto Pleasant Street. As the vehicle turned onto Pleasant Street, the driver failed to yield to a pedestrian who was crossing Pleasant Street in a marked crosswalk.
The force of the collision caused significant trauma to the pedestrian, an 82-year-old Prescott man, who was treated on scene prior to being transported to YRMC. He was later flown to a Phoenix area hospital in critical condition.
Currently this incident is still under investigation, however, impairment does not appear to have been a factor in the collision. Pleasant Street, between Gurley Street and Goodwin Street, was closed for approximately 3 hours while investigators from the Traffic Safety Section processed the scene.
