Who would have thought, at the turn of the century, that there would be people in the media, academia and elected or appointive officials who would state and promote such idiocy as they are pushing today? Back then, if a man had said that he “identified as a woman”, he would have been ignored or been the fodder for the jokes of comedians. If he stated that he wanted to compete in women’s sports, he would not have been allowed.

If drag queens tried to put on story hours for preschool and elementary school children, they would have risked arrest. Few, if any public schools or libraries would have allowed such degenerate shows on their premises.

If parents knew that schools were telling their children not to talk to their mothers and fathers about what they were learning in school, there would have been a parent revolt back then. If the public found out that the schools were teaching preteen students about sex, condoms, sodomy, and other sexual practices, and had illustrated books showing these things, the parent revolt would have started two decades earlier.

No one would have believed in the year 2000, that a couple of decades later, people would be allowed to camp on our city streets, defecate and urinate in public, use drugs and be given needles and pipes for using narcotics, by the government. One would not have thought that the politicians who allowed all of this to occur would keep getting elected.

Who could have conceived that our elected officials and the voters would enact laws that would release predator convicts back onto our streets? It would have been ridiculous back then, to think that the voters would elect county prosecutors who would not file criminal charges in a wide variety of felonies or reduce them to misdemeanors. No one would have thought that there would be laws and policies that would allow arrested suspects out of jail without posting bail.

There would have been a shocked public if major retail companies started to fire employees who stopped or attempted to stop shoplifters. There probably would have been boycotts of businesses that did this. Now we have organized groups of thugs that go into stores and smash and grab whatever they want. Where are citizens demanding that their law enforcement officials aggressively go after these gangs of thieves?

It seems that all of this started with the Ferguson, Mo. riots in 2014. The media ginned up anti-police, “Hands up, don’t shoot,” lies that caused the insurrection against lawful authority. After that, other incidents in Baltimore and other big cities were allowed by politicians and obsequious police administrators, to grow into riots that took lives and caused major property destruction. The woke politicians, with the backing of the leftist media, excused this as the need to let the rioters, “let off steam”. No regard was given to the lives lost, the injuries to citizens and police or the property owners who had paid taxes expecting their businesses would be protected.

This orgy of anarchy increased geometrically after the George Floyd death in Minneapolis. Law enforcement officers were reviled by politicians and the press. Rioters, arsonists and looters were allowed to commit these crimes without arrest for the most part. Defund the police movements made their way in major cities across the country. Experienced officers retired or quit and recruitment of new officers has been unable to fill required levels to adequately police our cities.

The evidence is abundant. It remains to be seen if the politicians, media elites and the low information voters will acknowledge the problems they have created and change their votes and policies. If not they are the idiots Mark Twain alluded to in the quote above.
