World’s Oldest Rodeo Action Heating Up On Second Day – Ron Williams

Another beautiful evening for the second day of the World’s Oldest Rodeo in Prescott saw a full house of fans with much to cheer about. Temperatures once again were quite comfortable into the evening.

Bareback Riding top three are Cole Reiner of Buffalo, Wyoming, with a score of 88.5, Richard Champion of Stevensville, Montana, with 87, and Mason Clements of Spanish Fork, Utah with 84.5.

Saddle Bronc Riding was led by Stu Wright of Coalville, Utah, with a score of 86.5. Sedcond was Cole Elshere, of Faith, South Dakota, with an 85. Third is Valentines, Nebraska’s Garrett Long with an 82.

Tristan Parker from Winnie, Texas earned the highest score of the night in Bull Riding by staying on Easy Sid, earning a score of 90.5. Tristen Hutchings from Monteview, Idaho, scored 84, and Trey Benton III of Richards, Texas with a 75.

Tie Down Roping event saw Cory Solomon of Prairie View, Texas score the fastest time with an 8.6 in the first Go Leaders. Hayden Ford of Whitehouse, Texas was right behind at 8.8, and a third Texan, Marty Yates of Stephenville, had a 9.1.  The Second Go Leaders are Ryan Jarrett of Comanche, Oklahoma with 8.6. Ty Harris of San Angelo, Texas and Quade Hiatt of canyon, Texas tied for second with a time of 8.8. The top three after two rounds are Solomon with an 18.3, Murphy at 18.8, and Ford at 18.9.

Steer Wrestling saw Tyler Waguespack of Gonzales, Louisiana score a 4.7 in both the First and Second Go Leaders.  Second and third in the First Go Leader Round was Tristan Martin of Sulphur, Louisiana had a 5.3 and Logan Wiseman of Paola, Kansas with a 5.7. The second and third place in the Second Go Leaders was Ryan Shuckburgh of Innisfail, Alberta Canada with a 4.9 and nick Guy from Sparta, Wisconsin with a 5.1. Waguespack leads after two rounds with a 9.4, Martin is second at 10.9, and Guy third with an 11.3.

Leading Breakaway Roping is Shelby Boisjoli of Stephenville, Texas, with a 2.9 in the first go. She has 5.7 after two rounds.

Leading in Barrel Racing after two rounds is Bryana Lehrmann of Lexington, Texas, with 35.54. Second is Jenny Duhon of Phoenix, Arizona with 35.57, and third is Anne Miller of Salome, Arizona at 35.68. The best time so far was in the second go from Sheena Robbins of Fresno, California, with 17.45.

In Team Roping, after two rounds, the leaders are Dustin Egusquiza of Marianna, Florida, and Levi Lord of Sturgis, South Dakota, with 13.9 seconds. Second is Keven W Daniel of Franklin, Tennessee and Travis Graves of Jay, Oklahoma with a 14.9. Third with a 19.3 is Dalton Turner of Sidney, Arkansas, and Clay Clayman of Highland, Missouri.

The World’s Oldest Rodeo has two performances on Saturday, 1:30 pm and 7:30 pm. Sunday start time is 7:30 pm, along with Monday. Tuesday is the 4th of July and the finale, which starts at 1:30 pm. Be sure to come 90 minutes early to check out the Mutton Bustin’.

The Rodeo Dance is in the parking lot of the Depot Marketplace on the corner of Sheldon and Montezuma on Friday and Saturday, 8 pm -1 am.
