Rodeo Standings Sees Some Movement – Ron Williams

Saturday was a double feature of action in the World’s Oldest Rodeo in Prescott. As temperatures started to climb, rodeo fans filled the stands and were able to see a few changes in the overall leader board in each category.

Cole Reiner of Buffalo, Wyoming, is still leading Bareback Riding with an 88.5 point ride. Clayton Biglow of Clements, California moved into a second place tie with Richard Champion, with each having a score of 87.

In Saddle Bronc Riding it is Brody Cress of Hillsdale, Wyoming, with an 88 to move him into first place. Stu Wright falls to second at 86.5, with Brandon Lansford claiming third with a score of 85.5.

Tristin Parker of Winnie, Texas, still leads the Bull Riding event with a 90.5. Justin Rickard scored an 88.5 to put him into the second position. Tristen Hutchings drops from second to third with an 84.

The leader after two rounds in Tie-Down Roping is still Cory Solomon of Prairie, Texas, with a time of 18.3. Solomon’s best was 8.6 seconds in the first round. Macon Murphy and Hayden Ford still occupy second and third.

Wyatt Lindsay from Las Cruces, New Mexico had the best time in Steer Wrestling on Saturday, moving him into second overall with a time of 10.7. The leader after two rounds continues to be Tyler Waguespack of Gonzales, Louisiana, with 9.4 seconds. His two 4.7 second performances remain the fastest time in each of the two Go Rounds.

Leading Breakaway Roping is Shelby Boisjoli of Stephenville, Texas, with a 2.9 in the first go, and 2.8 in the second, for a two round total time of 5.7. Ashley Goforth of Azie, Texas, and Shawnee Sherwood of San Tan Valley, Arizona, moved into the second and third spots after their strong performances on Saturday. Goforth has a combined total is at 7.0, and Sherwood is at 7.2 seconds.

Leading in Barrel Racing after two rounds is Doskie Edwards of Casa Grande, Arizona, with a combined total of 34.84 seconds. The best time so far was in the first go from Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi of Lampasas, Texas, with 17.33. Prescott’s own, Sarah Kieckhefer turned in a 17.38 ride on Saturday, and now sits at second overall with 35.01.Andrea Busby dropped two places from first to third with a 35.02

The Team Roping top three remained the same as Kaleb Driggers of Hoboken, Georgia, and Junior Nogueira of Presidente Prude, Brazil, still lead with a time of 13.3 seconds. Second are Dustin Egusquiza Marianna and Levi Lord at 13.9 with the third spot with Keven Daniel and Travis Graves Jay with a 14.9.

The Rodeo resumes with a performance on Monday at 7:30 pm, with the grand finale matinee on Tuesday at 1:30 pm.  Don’t forget the Mutton Bustin’ that happens 90 minutes before each scheduled performance. Watch future rodeo stars get their feet wet.
