Last night at approximately 9 pm Yavapai County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) rollover at the 5-points intersection off Big Bug Mesa Road and Poland Road in Prescott. An OHV with four adult occupants rolled over on its side, resulting in multiple injuries.
One woman whose arm was pinned under the vehicle was extricated with the assistance of a Good Samaritan. She and another occupant had injuries severe enough to require emergency treatment, with one being airlifted due to a head injury.
Currently the accident appears to be speed related. All occupants were wearing seatbelts; however, no one was wearing a helmet which likely would have prevented or mitigated the head injuries sustained.
YCSO cannot stress enough the need to wear a helmet when riding in OHVs. Protective equipment can not only save you from severe injury, but as we have seen far too often, it can often save one’s life.
