Opinion: The FBI and DOJ Fishing Expedition – Buz Williams

“That general warrants, whereby any officer…may be commanded to search suspected places without evidence of a fact committed, or to seize any person or persons not named, or whose offense is not particularly described and supported by evidence, are grievous and oppressive and ought not to be granted.” – George Mason, Virginia Declaration of Rights, Article 10, June 12, 1776

Former President Trump called it a siege and raid on his Mar-A-Lago home in Florida. He and his supporters called it prosecutorial misconduct and a weaponizing of law enforcement against political opponents. Leftest and their media minions stopped calling it a “raid” and started calling it a “search”. Whatever it was, it certainly was unprecedented. Never before in our history has a sitting President’s Administration and political party gone after a prior President and a likely opponent in the next election.

Whether one calls it a search, a siege or a raid, it was most definitely a fishing expedition. How do we know this? Because a reading of the warrant itself appears to be so overly broad as to be a “general warrant”. The Fourth Amendment was written to protect people from “general warrants”. The British used this type of warrant to go after persons they didn’t like. They knew of no crime an individual may have committed, but a “general warrant” would allow them to go into that person’s house or business and look for evidence of any crime that the British could charge them with.

This search warrant gave the FBI the clearance to search virtually the whole Mar-A-Lago estate: every room, office, building and space. Supposedly, the FBI was looking for archival type papers. Normally that would limit what and where they could look. For instance, if the FBI, in their warrant, said they were looking for a shotgun with a length of 28 inches, they would not be allowed to search a shoe box or a jewelry box, since a shotgun would not fit in those boxes. So when they are searching for papers, one could assume they would look in offices, storerooms, file cabinets and such. Why would they search Melania Trump’s closet? (Perhaps FBI Director Christopher Wray believes the rumors about J. Edgar Hoover being a cross dresser and wanted to get some fashion tips. Maybe Wray and the woke Merrick Garland want to host a dance so Federal Attorneys and FBI Agents could prance around in drag).

Whatever “probable cause” was offered in the affidavits, the real reason for search was not to find presidential papers marked “Top Secret” or otherwise. This raid was conducted to find something, anything, that the Justice Department and the FBI could take to a Grand Jury and get an indictment. Logic would seem to dictate they were looking for something that could prove Trump conspired to create an insurrection. With an indictment, the establishment Democrats and Republicans think they could prevent Donald Trump from running and winning the Presidency.

So what was this DOJ/FBI action in Florida? It was definitely much more than a “search”. You don’t need 30 armed FBI agents to search for papers for nine hours even on a large estate. The warrant servers certainly don’t need to wait for the person who is the object of the search to leave the residence. You don’t need a safe cracker on a simple search. The agent in charge can simply ask the owner or his lawyer, what the combination is. Of course, if you fear that the owner or his lawyer might have solid legal grounds to object to opening the safe, you wouldn’t ask, you would just have your safe cracker open the safe. With 30 agents searching, there is no way an attorney, or even two or three lawyers could watch them at all times. So this was most assuredly a raid and not what those who spin the news call a search.

What should send shivers down the spine of every freedom loving, Constitution believing American, is that this was the political establishment’s intentional weaponizing of Federal Law Enforcement with the purpose of intimidating and punish

  1. It’s great to see that the FBI RAID on Mar-a-Lago has had the exact opposite of the intended affect. Now Trump is MORE LIKELY to win in 2024. How sweet is that?

What a total clown show at all levels of the Federal Bureaucracy. Sign up the FBI upper management for a remake of The Stolen Purse.

P.S. the problem is with the upper management of the FBI, not with the agents that actually fight crime. I’m sure they’re as disgusted as the rest of the citizenry.
