The City of Prescott Preservation Commission will have a regular meeting on Friday, June 14 at 9 am at 201 N. Montezuma Street, Third Floor Council Chambers, to review the plans for The Assembly at Old City Hall project. The proposed redevelopment project has spaces for retail and two restaurants on the main level with upper levels consisting of a hotel with 109 guestrooms and conference/meeting space.
The Commission reviewed this project in a study session on May 10. No action was taken at that time, but public comment was received, as well as some direction from Commission members. June 14 will be a voting session, where the Commission may decide whether to approve or deny the project.
Citizens and members of the public are welcome to attend this and all public meetings in person. All meetings can be viewed on the City’s Facebook page and Youtube Channel, and on the Public Access Channel through SparkLight. Citizens can learn more about the project and comment by going to ParticipatePrescott.com

Down at the square last night. Someone said “What is historic about Colt Grill?”
The old City Hall is a landmark of downtown Prescott and it is a shame that it has to be torn down. It may be old and unsafe but to replace it with such a big eyesore will really destroy our downtown area. Too much growth going on all over Prescott and it is just becoming for like Phoenix every day.
I must be confused, I thought we were preserving the history and nature of this town? Was that not a huge focus of the mayor’s campaign? He sold out to wealthy investors in no time! Now we’re building on every inch of land possible, killing wildlife for being near manmade buildings while failing to understand that we’ve taken over their habitats, and now we’re redoing historical buildings to look like every other city.
I think many of us regret voting for Mayor Goode. It also says a lot that I’m in my 30’s (not an elderly person struggling with change) and can honestly say that everything great about this town is diminishing rapidly. Oh, and that $450,000 to fix the traffic light timing either failed or never happened.. it’s somehow worse than before.. like most other things around here.
