136Th Edition of The World’s Oldest Rodeo Comes To An End – Ron Williams

As America celebrated the 4th of July, the World’s Oldest Rodeo in Prescott ended with its eighth and final performance for 2023. Fans filled the stands once again despite the warm temperatures that reached into the mid-90s. It was another year of great rodeo action that the sellout crowds were able to enjoy all week.

Tara Caldwell and her daughter Andrea came up from ‘The Valley’ with some friends. Tara said, “It is really nice to come up here and get out of the heat. This is our first time up here for the rodeo. So much excitement and a lot of fun to see the rodeo live. Prescott does a really good job putting this on.”

The Bareback Riding winner is Cole Reiner of Buffalo, Wyoming, with a high score of 88.5. Tanner Aus of Granite Falls, Minnesota took second place with a score of 87.5. Richard Champion and Clayton Biglow are tied for third with an 87.

Saddle Bronc Riding’s winner was Brody Cress Hillsdale, Wyoming, with a best score of 88. Stu Wright of Coalville, Utah was second with an 86.5, and third is Brandon Lansford of Cotulla, Texas with an 85.5.

In Barrel Racing, Tara Seaton of Winslow, Arizona won the two round event with a combined time of 34.81 seconds. Doskie Edwards of Casa Grande, Arizona has a 34.84, and Prescott’s Sarah Kieckhefer is third with 35.01.

The Team Roping winning team was Cody Snow of Los Olivos, California, and Jade Corkill of Fallon, Nevada with the fastest time two round time of 12.8 seconds. Chris Francis and Cade Passig, both from Las Vegas, New Mexico took second with a time of 13.1. Kaleb Driggers from Hoboken, Georgia and Junior Nogueira of Presidente Prude, Brazil, finished third at 13.3.

The Bull Riding winner was Tristin Parker of Winnie, Texas, who scored his high mark early of 90.5. Second was Justin Rickard of Hemet, California with an 88.5, and third was Tristen Hutchings of Monteview, Idaho with an 84.

Tie-Down Roping winner is Cory Solomon of Prairie View, Texas, with the best time of 18.3 seconds. Macon Murphy of Keatchie, Louisiana, is second with an 18.8, followed by Hayden Ford of Whitehouse, Texas, with an 18.9.

Steer Wrestling’s winner is Tyler Waguespack, of Gonzales, Louisiana, with a time of 9.4 seconds. Second is Wyatt Lindsay, Las Cruces, New Mexico with a 10.7, and third was Tristan Martin of Sulphur, Louisiana at 10.9.

Breakaway Roping was won by Shelby Boisjoli of Stephenville, Texas with a two round time of an amazing 5.7 seconds. Tayle Brink of Wittman, Arizona, took second with a 6.0, and a tie for third between Ashley Goforth of Azie, Texas, and Taylor Munsell who both had a total 7.0.

The Steer Roping saw a tie for the top spot of a combined score of 39.0 by Coleman Proctor of Pryor, Oklahoma, and Chet Herren of Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Third went to Taylor Santos of Creston, Georgia with a 39.4.

Congratulations to all the winners. The tradition will continue as The World’s Oldest Rodeo will back for its 137th  time next year, so make your plans to attend one of the entertaining performances in 2024.

    That’s Morgan Peterson in that picture running American flag. Not a rodeo queen. She was the grand entry chairman
