LASER Receives $5,000 Grant from Arizona Community Foundation

Large Animal Shelters and Emergency Readiness (LASER) is pleased to announce it has received a grant for $5,000 from the Pat and Gerhard Kroenaur Animal Friends Fund, a component fund of the Arizona Community Foundation of Yavapai County. This award will support LASER’s mission with additional pens for the Chino Valley shelter site and necessary supplies to care for smaller barn animals.

These funds will purchase four more small animal pens and supplies needed to care for our community’s poultry, goats, llamas, and alpacas during emergency evacuations,” said LASER President Spike Hicks, “and we thank the generous people at ACF who made this possible.”

LASER, founded in 2019, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization of community volunteers working in partnership with Yavapai County Emergency Management. Its mission is to provide safe shelter for barn animals during evacuations in Yavapai County and to provide information for emergency preparedness. To donate or volunteer, go to the website at www.laser-shelter.org or contact LASER via email at info@laser-shelter.org.

The Arizona Community Foundation of Yavapai County was established in 1993 as a permanent philanthropic endowment for the enduring benefit of Yavapai County. This family of charitable funds is guided by a local Board of Advisors and benefits from cost-efficient, centralized professional services provided by ACF. More information is available at azfoundation.org.
