On Saturday, June 3rd, 2023, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Prescott Police Officers responded to a vehicle collision near the intersection of Willow Creek Road and Pinion Oaks Drive.
Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that a 63-year-old Prescott resident riding an electric bicycle had been travelling north on the shoulder area of Willow Creek Road when he attempted to turn across the roadway just south of Pinion Oaks Drive. The operator of the e-bike failed to yield to established traffic and was struck by a motorcyclist. The motorcycle, operated by a 65-year-old Chino Valley Resident, had been travelling northbound on Willow Creek Road when the bicyclist turned in front of him.
The Prescott Fire Department and EMS personnel provided medical aid to both patients on scene. The bicyclist was transported by ground to the YRMC and later flown by helicopter to a Phoenix area hospital. The driver of the motorcycle was airlifted from the scene to a Phoenix area hospital. Both patients sustained significant injuries and are currently listed in critical condition. Neither person was wearing a helmet.
Willow Creek Road was shut down in both directions for several hours while the scene was being investigated. Investigators did not observe any signs of impairment and speed was not a factor in this collision.
