On January 25, 2023, at approximately 6:43 A.M. Prescott Police officers responded to the 500 block of Glenwood Avenue upon the report of a possible burglary in progress.
Officers learned that the homeowner had called stating that while nobody was home at this time, they were able to monitor real time video showing a male subject attempting to make entry into the home.
Upon arrival, officers immediately set a perimeter and began to search the exterior of the residence. During the exterior search, officers located the door to the basement which was unsecured. Officers made entry through this door and immediately encountered a male suspect inside. The suspect was given verbal commands and was taken into custody without incident.
The suspect has been identified as 36-year-old Phoenix resident, Stephen Diel. Diel advised that he had previously done some work on the residence and had entered in an attempt to find a place to stay warm.
Diel was booked into Yavapai County Jail on charges of Burglary. Additionally, Diel was booked on a valid Felony warrant out of Maricopa County for failure to appear on an Aggravated DUI charge
