On Saturday evening, March 1st, YCSO assisted Cottonwood Arizona Police Department in detaining a suspected home intruder. Cottonwood PD found the suspect asleep inside of a vacant house in Cottonwood. Deputies and officers detained him at that time.
The individual was also suspected of illegally entering a home or homes the previous day.
Then Sunday, March 2nd, Sheriff deputies received a call from a concerned neighbor saying a house in their neighborhood was possibly burglarized. When deputies arrived, they noticed a smashed glass door, partially eaten food, clothes, and hygiene products. After speaking with the homeowner, deputies learned that at least one pair of shoes had gone missing from the home, and an unclaimed pair had been left behind.
YCSO deputies later spoke with Cottonwood PD and discovered the detained suspect from the day prior, had specifically mentioned the shoes he was wearing. Upon further investigation, deputies determined proper ownership of all the shoes. That, along with other information collected during the investigation, deputies were able to connect this suspect to both break–ins.
The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office takes these matters seriously and would like to remind citizens that it is unlawful to enter or stay in another person’s home uninvited.
