Officer Involved Injury Collision in Chino Valley

On 11/01/2022 at approximately 7:52 a.m. a Chino Valley Police officer was involved in a two-vehicle collision in the 500 block of N. S.R. 89 in Chino Valley.

The officer was Southbound on S.R. 89 in a 2017 Ford Explorer fully marked patrol vehicle. A 2007 Jeep Liberty travelling Southbound was slowed due to traffic. The officer rear-ended the Jeep Liberty.

The officer was stabilized on-scene and flown to a Deer Valley hospital. The officer is currently listed in stable condition. The driver of the Jeep Liberty was treated on-scene and released.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety responded and is handling the investigation of the crash. The cause of the collision is still under investigation at this time. Impairment is not a suspected factor.

S.R. 89 was closed between Center Street and Road 2 North for approximately 2.5 hours.

Chino Valley Police Department would like to thank the citizens for their patience and understanding while the roadway was closed. We also greatly appreciate the outpouring support for our officer and department. We love our community and it is an honor to serve.

  1. I want to give a shout out to all our police officers. You are a beacon of hope, a ray of sunshine, a covering of protection, caring and honor. In a world so full of evil, and hatred, you are our calm. Thank you for the long hours of commitment to us, our communities and families. In my opinion your all under paid and unappreciated. But my family, friends & I respect and love you all. Be safe and God bless you and your families. Sincerely Sharon Barnes

    1. Well said, Sharon, well said.

Agreed, Police Officers are underpaid. We should eliminate useless jobs in government (and there are plenty of them, for sure) and use the funds to pay Police, Fire and other value-added people what they are worth.

  2. Let’s all hope that the officer is not seriously injured and that he/she recovers quickly.

Meanwhile, this is a good reminder FOR EVERYONE TO SLOW DOWN. Every day here in Peoria, we see people risking the lives and safety of others, and for what? To get home 2-3 minutes early?

I asked, in an earlier comment, if any readers saw this accident, I can’t figure out how a bigger, heavier vehicle (the Police SUV) sustained such heavy damage and a much smaller, lighter vehicle sustained what looks like light damage at worst. Did the police SUV hit something else? The story was very spare on details, hard to explain the photos in the article. Prescott Enews thanx for covering this…
