Opinion: Impeach Enemies of the Constitution – Buz Williams

A good deal of tryanny goes by the name of protection.” – Crystal Eastman

All Supreme Court Justices and most elective office holders in the Federal government take an oath to “defend our Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” The President’s oath states the he will “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” The sad fact is that many who take the oaths of their office loathe the Constitution and actively try to circumvent, weaken or destroy that hallowed document. This has been going on for more than a century. Those who attempt to do that, trying to evade the Amendment process, should be impeached from whatever office they hold.

A number of Amendments to our Constitution have been violated, diminished or ignored by many of our elected and appointed officials, federal judges and Justices of the Supreme Court. The First Amendment protects several freedoms. It protects our right to freely “exercise” our various religions. A number of states locked down churches during the COVID pandemic, thus extinguishing that right in the name of protection. The individuals, not the government, state or federal, should decide if they want to risk getting a disease by attending religious services.

Leftists have proposed legislation to ban “hate speech”. A lot of countries have already done so. Thank God our Supreme Court has consistently ruled that “hate speech” laws are detrimental to the First Amendment. Many of our college campuses have rules that prohibit “hate speech”, and have expelled or suspended students and fired professors who have violated the school’s definition of “hate speech”. The proponents of “hate speech” laws and rules use broad definitions. This is intentional, so they can use it for those whose opinions differ from theirs.

Rather than let their users and readers decide for themselves, the social media giants, ban, shadow ban or warn against opinions that differ from leftist agenda. While this isn’t a violation of the Constitution itself, it does violate the spirit of the First Amendment. These companies have so much influence, and monopolistic power, that they need to be broken up by Antitrust laws like the monopolies of the late 1800s.

For the last few decades, the Supreme Court has continuously protected the 2nd Amendment right to bear arms. Federal and state legislators and other elected officials still try to limit and/or emasculate that right, as if they can’t understand the phrase, “the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

The 4th Amendment right for us to be “secure in our persons, houses, papers and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures,” is being violated daily by the government, working in conjunction with private companies. They are able to intercept computer and phone communications of US citizens without a warrant.

Many “red flag” laws and proposed laws call for the confiscation of property without due process, in violation of the 5th Amendment.

A large number of those who the progressives have accused of being “insurrectionist”, have been held for months, thus being deprived of their right to a speedy trial, in violation of the 6th Amendment. Many of those labeled as “insurrectionist” have been held in solitary confinement, without the benefit of bail, or legal counsel, in violation of 6th and 8th Amendments.

The 10th Amendment reserves rights for the individual states. The Federal government has historically pushed their power into these areas reserved for the individual states. Row v Wade is a prime example. The states are allowed to make laws, both criminal and civil, and the federal government and courts violate the 10th Amendment when they make or overrule laws of which that are the purview of the states.

The proper way to change the Constitution, is to go through the Amendment process. This is a difficult process, no doubt, but it was made that way so that it would not be swayed by fads or trends in communities or culture.

Any federal elected or appointed officials, judges or justices who attempt or have attempted to change the meaning of the Constitution, without going through the Amendment process, should be impeached. It doesn’t matter if they have tried to do this by passing laws that circumvent the Constitution or by judicial fiat, they have violated their oath and that is an impeachable offense.

  1. A timely reminder in Readers Digest form. Thank you Buz Williams. Following the November 8th election I Pray we will have elected sufficient constitution loving Patriots to completely take leadership from the progressive anti constitutionists. And let one of the first orders of business will be the impeachment of all involved in violating constitutional law. I Pray Republican leadership will be free of RINOS as the next congress begins. If not the case, “We the People” have more work to do as we spool up for the Presidential election in 2024. May God continue to bless the United States of America.

    1. Mr. Steele, You wrote “I Pray we will have elected sufficient constitution loving Patriots to completely take leadership from the progressive anti constitutionists” , yet you failed to mention that eight of President Trumps Executive Orders were deemed unconstitutional by the courts. Does that mean that after the first court deemed an Executive Order unconstitutional, the Senate should have begun impeachment hearings? Now, I need to reiterate from previous comments, I got no dog in this fight, I am a registered Independent, and I think both major political parties are actually hurting the country. So, because you mentioned only one party I wanted to make sure folks realize that both parties have had executive orders deemed unconstitutional. Finally, you wrote “constitutionists”, I am pretty sure that is not a word, but I think I know what you meant. Have a great day.

  2. Likewise, thank you Buz Williams. Fully agreed, those that violate their oath of office need to be impeached and booted out of office.

Yes, WE THE PEOPLE have a lot more work to do, but the fact is that the Violent Radical Left Cash Grabbers have poked the bear one too many times. History provides a great analogy:
