Shoppers have voted Prescott Farmers Market (PFM) the #1 farmers market in Arizona for the fourth time, after earlier wins in 2022, 2023, and 2025. The market celebrates by opening its 13th winter season on Saturday, November 7. The cold-weather harvest is in, and a later start time means shoppers can sleep in a little before heading out for fresh, local food.
Winter markets run every Saturday from 9:30am to 12:30pm, weather permitting, through March 27, 2027. The market stays in its home at the Dignity Health-YRMC Miller Valley parking lot, 900 Iron Springs Road. Shoppers can plan holiday meals around the market: it’s open November 28, the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and closed December 26, the Saturday after Christmas.
“Being named Arizona’s favorite market four times is an honor, and it belongs to everyone who makes this market happen: Our farmers, ranchers, and artisans, plus our vendors, staff, volunteers, and board,” said Kathleen Yetman, Executive Director of Prescott Farmers Market. “People are often surprised by how much grows here in the winter. Our farmers have spent the season planting and nurturing cold-hardy crops so this community can keep eating local through March. Every chilly Saturday morning you spend with us keeps those farms going year-round.”
What’s growing in the cold
Yavapai County farmers have been busy. Their winter tables will be full of sweet carrots, earthy beets and parsnips, leeks, radishes, spinach, kale, salad mix, and sunflower sprouts. Nearly 50 vendors are expected each week. All goods are grown or raised in Arizona, and most come from Yavapai County. Shoppers will also find mushrooms, nuts, citrus, dried flowers, lavender, fresh bread, eggs, grass-fed beef, and poultry.
Come hungry
PFM is also one of Prescott’s best Saturday brunch or lunch spots. Grab a hot coffee and warm up with tamales, tacos, posole, shawarma, samosas, kimchi fried rice, fresh bagels, and baked goods. Wash it down with kombucha and aguas frescas.
Shoppers can check the event calendar to see which vendors are scheduled for any market day, plus special events.
More than a market
PFM’s community programs keep running all winter:
- Carrots for Kids: Children get a free local carrot or fresh made bagel at every market, thanks to Legacy Mutual Mortgage – The Riggs Team.
- Feed Your Neighbors: Participating households pick up food vouchers at the Saturday market to spend on fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, meat, seafood, and Volunteers also pack boxes of produce bought directly from local farmers for neighbors in need. Every voucher and every box supports both a local family and a local farm.
- Prescott Community Compost: Shoppers can bring their kitchen food scraps to the booth, where staff and volunteers answer questions about composting and sell high-quality compost. Accepted items include fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, non-greasy food scraps and egg shells. We do not accept meat, dairy, and oil. Bagged leaves are also accepted and greatly appreciated. Please no pet/yard waste, sticks, rocks, pine needles, or oak leaves (Gambel oak leaves are acceptable).
Easy ways to pay
All vendors accept cash. Shoppers can also swipe their SNAP/EBT, debit, or credit cards to receive tokens at the Information Booth. The Double Up Food Bucks Arizona program allows customers to double their SNAP benefits at the market for fresh fruits and vegetables.
Good to know
PFM is a pet-free space; ADA service animals specifically trained to aid a person with a disability are always welcome. PFM offers reusable plates at select vendors as part of their effort toward a sustainable market. Customers can return used plates to the Sustainability Booth to be washed.
