More individuals and families experiencing food insecurity will have access to assistance through a $5,000 grant from leading internet and mobile service provider Sparklight® to The Community Cupboard Food Bank. Awarded through the Sparklight Charitable Giving Fund, the grant will help fund a new food storage shed and building identification, increasing the nonprofit’s capacity to store and distribute food to local residents in need.
During its recent grant cycle, Sparklight awarded more than $125,000 in grants to 28 nonprofit organizations across the cities and towns it serves. By investing in programs that support children and families, address food insecurity, expand educational opportunities and build critical life skills, the funding is helping improve lives and strengthen local communities.
“Food banks are often a lifeline for individuals and families facing difficult circumstances,” said Jay Macleod, Sparklight Senior Regional Director, Southwest. “We’re proud to support The Community Cupboard Food Bank as it expands its ability to store, distribute and provide food to more members of the community.”
Food bank leaders said the grant will help improve operations and increase capacity to meet growing needs.
“As higher costs affect more residents of our community, Sparklight’s generous grant will have a meaningful impact,” said Jim Phelps, Executive Director of The Community Cupboard Food Bank. “The new storage shed and building identification will help us operate more efficiently, store more food safely and ensure more neighbors have access to the food and support they need. We are grateful for Sparklight’s investment in our mission.”
Sparklight’s Charitable Giving Fund focuses on initiatives that create lasting, local impact, including education and digital literacy, hunger relief and community development. Since the Fund’s inception in 2020, Sparklight has awarded more than $1.3 million in grants to more than 300 nonprofits that make a difference in the lives of those they serve.
Nonprofit organizations may apply for a grant during open application periods each spring and fall. Applications for the fall 2026 cycle will be accepted Oct. 1‒31, 2026.
