The Chino Valley Police Department’s investigation into the collision that occurred on 06/06/2026 determined that Ronald Hewitt was impaired by alcohol while operating a 2013 Ram 2500 pickup. Hewitt was traveling at nearly twice the posted speed limit on Reed Road, a 40 MPH zone
At the time of the collision the victim was at the stop sign at Reed Road and Center Street. The victim was struck from behind. The collision resulted in the death of the victim.

On 06/23/2026, Chino Valley Police Detectives arrested Ronald Hewitt, age 57, of Chino Valley, Arizona, on the following charges:
- 2nd Degree Homicide
- Endangerment
- Possession of an Open Container
- Criminal Damage
- DUI – Impaired to the Slightest Degree
- DUI with a BAC of .08 or more
- Extreme DUI with a BAC of .15 or more
- Super Extreme DUI with a BAC of .20 or more
- Aggravated DUI – Wrong Way Driving
Hewitt was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Yavapai County Jail.
