Badgers Hold On For 5-4 Win, Bears Fall

The Prescott Badgers scored four first inning runs but had to hold on to beat the Lee Williams Volunteers 5-4 at Prescott High School.

Kaden Lampe had two RBIs, with Alex Lough and Matt Hepperle knocking in a run each.

Hepperle picked up the win with four innings of work with seven strikeouts and said, “We came out strong and got the lead on them, but we allowed them to get back in it but were able to close it out.” Hepperle added. “I felt good out there but underwhelmed with my performance. That is not the way I want to pitch.”

The Badgers will get their chance to play first place Flagstaff next week. “We are pretty excited about getting to play them again. After the way our season ended last year, we have had these two games coming up on our radar.”

Kaden Lampe had the big bat picking up four hits  that included two doubles and 4 RBIs. William Horn had three hits and 2 RBIs. Matt Hepperle had a pair of doubles and 2 RBIs. Gates helped his own cause out with two hits including a double and 2 RBIs. Nick Martin had two hits and scored twice.

Prescott (6-2) in the Grand Canyon Region, (14-7) overall, is currently ranked at #14 In Division 4A and will play at #9 Flagstaff on Tuesday before returning home to meet the Eagles again on Thursday.

The Trinity Christian Warriors lost a road game at Maricopa A+ Charter School 6-3. The loss dropped the Warriors to (7-2)..





Carson Matock had a pair of hits including a triple and an RBI. Connor Wallace had two hits and scored twice. Henry Patterson had two hits.

Connor Wallace went 4 innings allowing 4 runs on 8 hits with 4 strikeouts. Maricopa ACS scored three more runs, with only one earned, off reliever Ethan Feddema who came into the game in the fifth inning.

The Warriors have two more road games before returning home for their final regular season game at home on April 21 versus Gila Bend. Game time is 4pm at Antelope Park in Prescott Valley.

The Bears dropped their second in a row to the Flagstaff Eagles 14-6. Ty Young had a pair of three run homers, one in the first inning and the other in the third to account for all six Bradshaw Mountain runs. Breken Herb took the loss being touched up for 10 runs on 11 hits with 3 Ks in four innings. Dylan Lockwood gave up four runs, two earned with five strikeouts in three innings.

Jayce Vesely picked up the win closing out the game with four scoreless innings allowing just two hits. Vesely relieved Trey Parker who struggled the first two innings giving up the Bears six runs.

Teyan Clerry had three hits including a double for the Eagles, who improved to (7-1) in the Grand Canyon Region and are (12-5) overall. Aeneyas Clerry, Tobyn Phillips, and Jayce Vessley all had two RBIs.

Drew Strader and Dylan Lockwood each had two hits for the Bears who fell to (5-2) and (7-13). Bradshaw Mountain will play Mingus in Cottonwood on Monday at 3:45pm.

In a shocker, the Lee Williams Volunteers came to Prescott and beat the Badgers 10-1.The loss drops the Badgers from #5 to #9 in the Division 4 rankings.

Lee Williams broke open a 2-1 game in  the fourth inning thanks to a couple of Badger errors leading to runs scoring to go on top 6-1.

Olivia Butler singled in Amelia Zahn for the only Prescott run in the bottom of the third. Aivaree Austin pitched the entire game for Lee Williams and kept the Badgers in check. Prescott had runners on base but could not come up with key hits to extend the innings to get back into the game.

The stinging loss drops Prescott to (5-2) in the Grand Canyon Region and (12-5) overall. Lee WIlliams improves to (4-5) and (7-10). Next up is a pair of games with the first place Flagstaff Eagles.

Bradshaw Mountain fell a second time to Grand Canyon Region leading Flagstaff Eagles 15-4 up north. Jaslene Valentine hit a home run and had a double for the Bears. 

The Eagles got three RBIs from a triple and a home run by Cailee Culwell. Mayle Speer had a double and a triple and 2 RBIs. 

#7 Flagstaff improved to (7-1) in the Grand Canyon regions and (18-5) overall. Bradshaw Mountain falls to (3-4) and (7-9).

The #22 ranked Bears make the trip to Flagstaff to play Coconino on Tuesday at 4pm.
