The Prescott Lady Badgers came out on fire as they posted a thirty point opening quarter on their way to beating the Bradshaw Mountain Lady Bears 65-26 in Prescott Valley.

Addie Prisciandaro knocked down five three pointers and had 16 of her game high 23 points in the first eight minutes. Prisciandaro said, “This being my last time to play here I am really happy we played the way we did. It is always exciting when our shots are falling. We just came out and were ready to go. We wanted to set the tone early and were able to do that.”

For Bella Abt, it was business as usual working in the paint, and dominating the boards, and posting 17 points, 8 coming in the first quarter. Abt went on to pull down her 1000th career rebound as a Lady Badger in the third quarter and was given the ball commemorating that feat. Abt said, “This was our last time to play them here and we wanted to go out knowing we played our best. It is exciting and yet kind of sad.” As for the rebound total, “I am really proud of myself. When I came into high school I never really expected to play the post, but I wanted to play hard every time I went out there and do whatever the team needed me to do. So when I got close I made it a goal thinking that it would be such a cool accomplishment. I am happy I got it against Bradshaw because that is so fun.” By the end of her junior season, Abt had already surpassed 1000 career points. The latest achievement makes her a career double-double player in Prescott Lady Badger history.

The two seniors led a barrage of shots to go on top 30-5, leaving the Bradshaw Mountain faithful in a state of shock. Things cooled down considerably in the second quarter as Prescott Coach Jami Johnson went to her bench as every player got considerable playing time throughout the game. Johnson said, “I thought we came out ready to go tonight and the energy that we had was great. Congratulations to Bella. She has worked very hard and her accomplishments speak for themselves.”

The lead continued to grow as Mandy Hirasa knocked down a pair of shots, one a three pointer, as Prescott led 44-17 at the half. Abt and Prisciandaro played very little after establishing such a big lead, but Prescott still managed to increase the score to 60-25 after three quarters. A running clock made for a quick fourth quarter.

Bradshaw Mountain Coach Brad Clifford said, “Prescott came out and played hard. They were on fire and we did not match their intensity. They are a good team and we need to be able to go out and match that intensity and we did not do that tonight.” Emma Johnson led the Lady Bears with 10.

Prescott (2-0) in the Grand Canyon Region and (14-3) overall will host ALA-Queen Creek in a non-region game on Monday at 5:30pm, meanwhile it does not get any easier for Bradshaw Mountain (1-1), and (11-7), as they will face a very good Flagstaff team tonight at 7pm..
