The 15th Prescott Film Festival is in full swing with an interactive workshop at the Hazeltine in downtown Prescott.
Mathew Conde began the day with theater games that unlock character secrets. His session of, How to Create Characters and make them believable, was a teaching and interactive event that gave those attending the ability to work through four games in order to open up their improv creativity.

“This is a lot of fun and I really enjoy doing this,” said Conde. “I didn’t realize how big the performing arts community was out here when I moved here in 2022. I was just looking to build a small film community out here. I auditioned for a show and I really got immersed in the culture out here. So I said what can we do, I like to stay on top of my training, but there is no training at my level, and I don’t want to sound inflated or whatever, so I thought what was the next best thing.
I have taught kids to adults, ages 4 to 90, so I decided to open Elev/8 Acting. So my goal is to help anybody to wants to improve their acting/improv skills because I know I can help them at any level of their acting abilities by providing information to help make them better, elevate where they are in their abilities. So I am out here wanting to create a strong acting improv community.”

Conde is the force behind the show titled Interlopers Improv coming to the Elks Theatre on Saturday, September 13 at 7pm. Tickets are $26-$46 and will be on sale beginning Tuesday at the Elks Theatre.
Conde said, “Oh man, I am so excited about this! I have been talking about this show since the first time I saw the Elks Theatre when I moved here.”
“I’m producing an improv standup show. I am bringing in some of my heavy hitters from LA. I am also bringing in some our local players as well. The level of talent for this show will be amazing. It will be awesome, short form, wild, loud, fast, and no holds barred, just in your face energy and chaos. It is going to be awesome.”
