This summer, high school students can explore career pathways through immersive summer programs at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. With programs from designing video games to solving crimes, the Prescott Campus has a Summer Camp that can fuel a future in a number of exciting fields.
“Working with campers is an incredibly fulfilling experience,” said Trinidy Boyce, a sophomore majoring in Aerospace Engineering and camp mentor. “You make a direct impact on campers, helping them discover new interests, develop essential life skills and build confidence.”
Beginning in June, these cutting-edge programs invite students nationwide to leverage Embry-Riddle’s state-of-the-art labs, expert faculty and a range of engaging courses that combine summer fun with real-world applications.
Unlocking Mysteries of the Universe
The Astronomy Camp introduces students to observational techniques and space science through lectures, hands-on activities and guided stargazing sessions.
The program takes advantage of Arizona’s clear skies and campus’ Jim and Linda Lee Planetarium, the only facility of its kind north of Phoenix, to immerse participants in the study of celestial phenomena.
Investigating Crimes Through Forensic Science
The Forensic Science Camp at Embry-Riddle allows students to apply investigative techniques in a simulated crime-solving environment.
The program includes hands-on activities in DNA analysis, fingerprint examination and psychological profiling, offering insights into the work of forensic professionals.
Explore Interactive Media and Game Design
Embry-Riddle’s Game Design, Animation and Simulation Camp introduces students to animation and interactive storytelling. The camp provides instruction in 3D modeling, with students using industry-standard software to develop virtual environments and multimedia simulations.
With an emphasis on intersecting technology and creativity, students at this camp are trained in video game mechanics, user experience design and visual storytelling.
Data in a Digital World
Data science has become one of the fastest-growing fields in the country. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a 36% increase in employment for data scientists by 2033, underscoring the demand for professionals with expertise in analytics.
Embry-Riddle’s Data Science Camp introduces students to key concepts in this emerging field. By exploring applications in artificial intelligence, finance and meteorology, this camp highlights the role of data in shaping decision-making processes across multiple industries.
Take to the Skies with Take Flight
The Take Flight Summer Camp offers students and their parents or guardians a unique hands-on introduction to aviation and aviation training.
The camp also features ground school for aviation-related topics such as safety, weather observation and air traffic control. Attendees will fly in a flight simulator, making Take Flight an experience of a lifetime for young aspiring pilots and their families to enjoy together.
