Community Talent Proudly Displayed in Young Artists Showcase: Artists from six local high schools adorn YC Prescott’s Gallery, Feb. 28 – Mar. 28

“2 Point Perspective” by Leyla Caudillo (Chino High School)

Astonishing versatility, fresh perspectives and an impressive array of young local talent will grace the walls and pedestals of YC’s Prescott Campus Gallery as Yavapai College presents the 2025 Young Artists Showcase: A Juried High School Exhibition, Friday February 28 through March 28 at the Jim & Linda Lee Performing Arts Center.

Every year, Yavapai County’s talented high school students submit a breathtaking range of creations – drawings, paintings, sculptures and digital art – for adjudication in YC’s Young Artists Showcase. Individually, these works are impressive displays of natural talent and new perspectives. This year, the 74 selected pieces create a portrait of a creative, diverse and energetic young talent base in our community.

“This year’s Young Artists Showcase was challenging in the very best of ways!” said juror Dr. Brandelyn Andres, Artist and Professor of Art History at Yavapai College. “I was so impressed by the talent of these young artists. I felt that every one of them deserved a place in the gallery. A large number of portraits were submitted. They were my favorite to go through – the artists were so adept at capturing the nuances of each person’s appearance and, even more impressive, something of their psychology.”

One hundred twenty student works were submitted for adjudication. Of these, Dr. Andres selected pieces from six local schools: Prescott High School; Bradshaw Mountain High School; Chino Valley High School; Northpoint Expeditionary Learning Academy; Pinnacle High School; and The Orme School.

The exhibition opens to the public on Friday, February 28. The artists and their works will be celebrated at an Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony, from 5 to 7 p.m., with awards announced at 6 p.m. YC’s Prescott Gallery will also host Free Family Art Day, on Saturday, March 1, from noon to 2 p.m. with a scavenger hunt, arts projects with the Gallery docents and free snacks. The Young Artists exhibit will be on display through March 28.

The Yavapai College Prescott Art Gallery is located inside the Jim & Linda Lee Performing Arts Center, 1100 E. Sheldon Street, on the Yavapai College Prescott Campus. The Gallery is open 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. Admission is free. For exhibit schedules or more information, please call: (928) 776.2031 or visit: www.yc.visualarts.com.
