Adam Lloyd scored two touchdowns and Uriah Tenette threw for one more to lead the Prescott Badgers to a 28-7 win over the Lee Williams Volunteers.

Prescott received the opening kickoff and moved the ball down to the Volunteers 13 when the Lee Williams made a stand as the Badgers turned the ball over on downs.

After a three and out by Lee Williams, it just took two plays for Prescott to jump on top. Adam Lloyd scored the first of his two touchdowns on a four yard run. The score was setup by a 51 yard pass play from Uriah Tenette to Johann Gundermann who was brought down at the four.

The two defenses kept thing in check for the remainder of the quarter and it wasn’t till 4:50 remaining in the second quarter that the Badgers added to their lead. Once again it was a big pass play that set the table. Tenette connected with Josiah Peoples on a 48 yard pass play to the Lee Williams four yard line. Then Lloyd took it from there for a 14-0 lead.

The Badgers had one final opportunity to extend the lead in the first half, but the pass to the end zone was picked off by Thomas Doxtader.

The Volunteers attempted to get on the board on their first drive of the third quarter were stopped when Gundermann made a great play knocking the fourth down pass away turning the ball over back to the Badgers.

Later in the quarter, Tenette broke through on what appeared to be a 59 yard punt return, but was called back for a blind side block. The Badgers did score on the possession when Cooper Kasun pulled in a Tenette pass from 12 yards out that gave Prescott a 21-0 lead with five minutes left in the third.

After Lee Williams turned over the ball on downs at their own 32, the Badgers went up 28-0 at the end of the quarter when Jacob Chamberlain busted through the center of the line for a one yard score.

The Volunteers were able to finally get into the red zone when Thomas Doxtader  returned a punt for 58 yards to the Badgers 15 yard line with four minutes remaining. Three plays later quarterback Morgan Quinn hit Dawrius Walema in the far corner of the end zone for the score.

Tenette threw for 203 yards and the one TD, and was also the leading rusher with 69 yards. Isaac Briseno had 51 yards on the ground. Cooper Kasun led the receivers with two catches for 70 yards and a touchdown. Peoples had two for 65 yards.

Lee Williams (1-5) was led by their quarterback Morgan Quinn with 101 yards passing, completing nine of 17 passes along with their only score. Dylan Norbert had 63 yards rushing. Walema had 7 catches for 82 yards and the TD.

Despite giving up the late touchdown, the Badger defense played tough giving up the one touchdown and only 178 yards of total offense. Brody Hanna led with 9 tackles, Cooper Kasun had 8. Adam Lloyd and Gunnar Parra added 6 each. Parra said, “We came out pretty strong on defense for the most part. Had a few minor mistakes by our DBs but overall a good job by our defense. Now we have to focus on Flagstaff. They are a lot better this year and we will need to be ready for our game up there in two weeks.” Hanna added, “We were able to keep them down for most of the game. I thought we came out and showed them who we are and played tough.”

The Badgers ran out the clock as they head into fall break. Prescott is (1-0) in the Grand Canyon Region and (5-1) overall and will meet Flagstaff, also (1-0) and (5-1), in the NAU Walkup Skydome on Thursday, October 17 at 7pm.
