The City of Prescott, Arizona, has officially recognized the importance of Patient Blood Management (PBM) by proclaiming November 6-10, 2023, as Patient Blood Management Awareness Week. This acknowledgment highlights the critical role that PBM plays in healthcare, and how it positively impacts patient care and the availability of blood components for those in need. This is the 12th year Yavapai Regional Medical Center has obtained a (PBM) proclamation.
Patient Blood Management is an evidence-based, multidisciplinary approach to caring for patients who may require a blood transfusion. PBM encompasses all aspects of the transfusion decision- making process, starting with the initial patient evaluation and continuing through clinical management. The primary goal of PBM is to ensure optimal patient outcomes while simultaneously preserving the blood supply, making sure that blood components are readily available for patients when required.
Yavapai Regional Medical Center is proud to be a dedicated advocate for Patient Blood Management and is the only hospital in Arizona that has a Patient Blood Management (PBM) program. The City of Prescott’s proclamation, signed by Mayor Phil Goode, acknowledges the importance of improving patient care and healthcare sustainability in this area.
During Patient Blood Management Awareness Week, the City of Prescott and Dignity Health Yavapai Regional Medical Center will recognize the significance of Patient Blood Management and join in the efforts to promote better patient care and ensure the continued availability of blood components for those in need.
