The Badgers lifted their record to (10-1) with a 74-44 win over the Coconino Panthers in the Badger Dome. The fans were treated to four Badger dunks, two by Zane Gaul, and one each by Jake Hilton and Uriah Tenette. Every Prescott player scored in the thirty point win.

The game started off slowly for both teams, but it was the Badgers who would build an eight point lead after the first quarter.

The Badgers lead grew to 29-13, as Hilton made a great move without the ball, receiving a pass to the bucket with 90 seconds left in the first half. Coconino would have a mini run of 5-2 to close things out, but still trailed 31-18 at the break.

The lead would continue to grow as Zane Gaul was taking care of business in and out of the paint with buckets and rebounds. Hilton went inside for an old fashioned three point play to build the lead to 40-22.

Prescott lifted the crowd as the third quarter came to a close when Jake Hilton deflected a Panther pass and picked up the loose ball gliding high in the sky for the one-handed dunk, increasing their lead to 57-30. Hilton said, “Appreciate everyone of my teammates, and the fans for the support. It really does make a difference for us.” In regards to the dunk, Hilton added, “Having a great pass and going up in the air, and dunking it, the energy from the crowd. It felt amazing.”

Uriah Tenette had a consistent game scoring a pair of baskets in each quarter, but got up above the rim to slam one down. A few seconds later Tenette again dazzled the crowd with a spinning move to the basket for a 69-38 lead, and closing his out with 20 points.

Baskets by Ryan Smith and  Ben Dutson, along with a three from the corner by Cooper Magnette, closed out the evenings scoring.

Zane Gaul led all scorers with 21 points and 8 rebounds said, “It was another team win for us. The dunks are fun and it gets the crowd into it, but more importantly is that we get everyone involved, which makes us all better.”

The Badgers (2-0) in the Grand Canyon Region, will make the short trip over to Prescott Valley for the first of two huge rivalry games with Bradshaw Mountain, on Monday at 7 pm.
