Town of Chino Valley Selected for Community Beautification Project as APS Celebrates 140 Years in Arizona

The Town of Chino Valley is proud to announce that it has been named a recipient of Arizona Public Service (APS) community beautification funding, awarded as part of APS’s 140th anniversary celebration.

Through this investment, the Town of Chino Valley will advance preservation and restoration of the historic Fred Harvey Farm at Del Rio Springs, including restoration of the original buildings and creation of a new interpretive trail highlighting the site’s cultural, economic and historical significance, creating lasting improvements and benefits for the community.

“Del Rio Springs and the Fred Harvey Farm are an important part of Chino Valley’s history and really tell the story of how our community developed,” said Mayor Tom Armstrong. “From Arizona’s first Territorial government being established near Del Rio Springs to the Fred Harvey Farm supplying food for the Harvey Houses and supporting early tourism at the Grand Canyon, there is a tremendous amount of history tied to this property. We are grateful to APS for helping us preserve that history and protect these buildings so future generations can understand the important role Chino Valley played in Arizona’s story.”

The funding is part of APS’s $1.4 million commitment, funded by APS shareholders, to support beautification projects across its service territory in 2026. The initiative honors APS’s 140-year history in Arizona and reflects the company’s ongoing focus on strengthening the communities it serves.
