Industry Leaders Roll Out “Let America Build” Campaign – The Mortgage Note

Realtor.com and a coalition of major real estate, homebuilding, lending, nonprofit, and trade organizations have launched a public awareness campaign, arguing that the United States cannot improve affordability without investing in new construction.

“Let America Build” brings together major industry players including Realtor.com, Zillow, the National Association of Home Builders, Veterans United Home Loans, Habitat for Humanity, RIS Media, and more.

These groups aim to educate the public on housing supply and pro-building political policies that could materially impact affordability in American communities.

“America’s housing shortage is pricing renters and buyers out of the communities they love. We know what’s driving it and we know what will fix it: streamlining permitting, modernizing zoning and unlocking land that’s already there,” said Jeremy Wacksman, CEO of Zillow.

The coalition wants to turn the affordability conversation away from mortgage rates, investors, and buyer demand – instead, it wants to focus Americans’ attention on the housing supply gap of 4.03 million homes. That is the gap estimated by Realtor.com.

Home prices have moderated somewhat as inventory improves in builder-friendly areas of the country and more buyers are sidelined by unaffordability, curbing competition. But they remain elevated, rising 1.5% on the year in June.

The campaign is building on the passage of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, a bill passed earlier this year that made strides towards greater flexibility for building.

“Earlier this year, I challenged the industry to come together and unify. Let America Build is a result of that call. Now after the 21st Century ROAD to Housing bill has become law, elected officials have the opportunity to make housing supply a visible community priority,” said Damian Eales, Realtor.com’s CEO.

Realtor.com first rolled out this campaign at SXSW in 2025, and is now expanding it with the help of this new coalition.

The campaign does not endorse or oppose candidates, political parties, or ballot measures.
