Arizona Philharmonic and Highlands Center Present Duo Catalina: Music Among the Pines

Arizona Philharmonic (AZ Phil) and the Highlands Center for Natural History continue their partnership with “Duo Catalina: Music Among the Pines” on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 6 p.m. in the Highlands Center’s Kiwanis Amphitheater, 1375 S. Walker Road, Prescott, as part of the Highlands Center’s Juniper Jamz concert series.

Arizona Philharmonic flutists Jeannette Hirasawa Moore and Andrea Redcay Graves formed Duo Catalina to share the rich repertoire for two flutes with audiences throughout Arizona. Their September 5 program spans more than three centuries, featuring music by Telemann, Vivaldi, Mozart, Beethoven, Debussy and Astor Piazzolla, alongside familiar selections from Les Misérables, Miss Saigon, The Hobbit, and the Beatles. Audiences will also hear the warm, mellow sound of the alto flute, revealing another voice within the flute family.

Music Among the Pines

Set among the ponderosa pines of the Highlands Center’s Kiwanis Amphitheater, this intimate concert invites audiences to experience the expressive range of the flute in one of Prescott’s most distinctive performance venues.

“Few instruments seem more at home in nature than the flute,” said Henry Flurry, Arizona Philharmonic Artistic Director. “At the Highlands Center, surrounded by the forest, audiences hear the flutes directly and without electronic amplification. With the close proximity of the seats and the surrounding trees, our audiences love this intimacy with both the musicians and the music.”

This concert offers audiences an opportunity to experience Arizona Philharmonic musicians in a chamber music setting before the orchestra opens its 2026–27 season, “Echoes of the Masters: Old Roads, New Directions,” on October 4 at the Ruth Street Theater.
