The Subaru Love Promise is built on showing love and respect to all people, and recently that promise came to life in an extraordinary way for local U.S. Veteran, Steve Urquidez of Prescott Valley.
What began as a vehicle purchase at Findlay Subaru Prescott a few years ago grew into a friendship between Steve and Sales Consultant Keegan Yount, also a U.S. Veteran. The two bonded over shared experiences and the trust that started in the showroom and have remained connected ever since.
When Steve shared that he was facing significant home repairs required by his homeowner’s insurance company, Keegan knew he needed help and brought the situation to the dealership team.
Rather than viewing Steve as a former customer, Findlay Subaru Prescott viewed him as family.
Led by Marketing Director Kara Hartman, the dealership immediately began coordinating community resources, reaching out to contractors, suppliers, and local organizations to see who might be willing to help. Although the dealership was fully prepared to fund the repairs, if necessary, the response from the community was overwhelming.
On June 28, Findlay Subaru Prescott volunteers Gabe Maciel, Jacob Rodarte, Keegan Yount, and Kara Hartman spent the day removing debris and overgrown vines from the property that couldn’t have been completed without the support from Hook Me Up Trailer Rental, who donated the use of their dump trailer for the cleanup.
The project continued July 21 when Jamie Williams and his team from Capstone Construction & Remodeling joined forces with Todd Cartwright and Yavapai Roofing to complete critical repairs. Crew members Robert, Johnathan, Billy, Trent, and Connor generously donated their labor and expertise to help restore the property.
The Home Depot Prescott donated all the materials needed to complete the project.
During filming of the project, a Skyline Digital team member and owner of Urban Desert Landscape, Brandon Fischer, volunteered additional landscaping services, bringing a crew to trim trees and improve drainage conditions around the property. Their work helped identify the likely cause of the original roof damage and shared with Steve recommendations to help avoid future problems.
Throughout the project, Findlay Subaru Prescott provided meals for volunteers and crews while documenting the effort to share the story of what can happen when a community comes together.
In the end, every material, service, piece of equipment, and hour of labor was donated.
“This project wasn’t about repairing a house,” said Kara Hartman of Findlay Subaru Prescott, “It was about supporting a friend. Keegan’s relationship with Steve started with a Subaru purchase, but what followed demonstrates what the Subaru Love Promise is really about. It’s about people caring enough to show up when someone needs help.”

The project serves as a powerful reminder that Subaru retailers are more than places to buy vehicles. They are part of the communities they serve.
For Steve Urquidez, what started as a difficult situation became a testament to generosity, friendship, and the lasting power of community and he and his family are grateful.
For everyone involved, it became a living example of the Subaru Love Promise in action.
