The Chino Valley Police Department is investigating two serious traffic collisions that occurred over the weekend.
Pedestrian Collision – June 5, 2026
On June 5, 2026, at approximately 7:14 p.m., officers with the Chino Valley Police Department responded to a vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision at the intersection of Road 3 North and Voss Drive.
Upon arrival, officers determined that a white 2002 Toyota Highlander had struck an individual who was walking in the roadway. The pedestrian was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries and was later airlifted to a Phoenix-area hospital.
The collision remains under investigation. Prescription drugs are suspected to be a contributing factor in the collision.
Fatal Traffic Collision – June 6, 2026
On June 6, 2026, at approximately 4:04 p.m., Chino Valley Police officers responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Reed Road and Center Street.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a gray 2013 Ram 2500 pickup truck, traveling at a high rate of speed, struck the rear of a blue 2010 Ford Mustang that was stopped at the stop sign at the four-way intersection.
The driver of the Ford Mustang, 65-year-old Leisa Phillips of Chino Valley, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Ram 2500 sustained injuries and was airlifted to Flagstaff Medical Center for treatment.
The collision remains under investigation. Alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor in the collision.
