Larry Jones continued his successful first season of pitching horseshoes with his second straight tournament win at the Steel Shoe Classic at Watson Lake Park.
Jones won the Class B last week and returned to win again by taking three of four games. This was his third win overall this season as he pitched 2.33% points above his average. Russell Durham took second and Keith Tucker finished third. Durham edged Jones out the gate with a 45-44 win. Tucker lost two close games one by two and the other three.

Trisha Lincoln’s second week back saw her return into the top spot. Although not quite up to her 66% average, she was still good enough to win five of six and take the overall tournament title. Her only blemish was a tie in a second game with Cody Williams. Trisha was challenged in her first two games by Williams and Bruce Reid, but she managed to take them both out by six points each. Reid, who won last week, finished second with both losses coming to Trisha. Hal Handelman started off with a blowout win but ended up taking third place.
Anybody interested in pitching horseshoes is welcome to come out and see for themselves how to get started.
This week the tournament will move over to American Legion Park on Bob Drive in Prescott Valley, but will return to Watson Lake on June 20 as the Mile Hi Horseshoe Club hosts with an 8am start time.
