Lessons by Lexe Celebrates 10 Years of Dance, Leadership and Community at Pine Ridge Marketplace

This year, Lessons by Lexe celebrates 10 years of its dance studio, marking a decade of growth rooted in creativity and connection.

The Prescott-based studio offers inclusive dance education with a focus on emotional well-being, while providing performance opportunities, community involvement and mentorship for dancers of all ages.

To commemorate the milestone, Lessons by Lexe will host a community open-house anniversary celebration on Wednesday, June 3, from 5 to 7 p.m., featuring charcuterie, desserts, a lion mural legacy, a black-and-white photo wall that honors dancers, families and alumni and reflects the studio’s journey.

Founded in 2016 by Alexes “Lexe” Hudson at just 19 years old, the studio began in a 900-square-foot space and has since expanded into a 5,369-square-foot facility, remaining at Pine Ridge Marketplace for all 10 years.

“Dance gave me a place where I felt connected and supported growing up,” said Hudson. “I wanted to create a space where dancers feel valued, encouraged and empowered to become confident leaders.”

When she was in training, Hudson’s personal experience inspired her to build a supportive dance studio rooted in respect, emotional well-being, and growth. While attending college and working full-time, Hudson navigated early challenges when searching for a studio space, before eventually earning the trust and continued support of Pine Ridge Marketplace.

Over the past decade, Lessons by Lexe has grown into a successful company that has reached hundreds of dancers over the years, and the studio continues to evolve. Through its Snow Globe Experience launched during the pandemic, expanded company and community programming, and collaborations with guest choreographers and industry professionals, the studio has created opportunities for dancers to strengthen their skills and grow as performers. Students have also earned opportunities in national competition recognition, convention scholarships and Disney performance invitations.

That momentum continues this season as Lessons by Lexe is hosting a lineup of summer camps and classes across a variety of dance styles. Programs range from themed camps for younger dancers to intensives and adult classes, creating an engaging, all-ages dance environment. The studio will also host Grammy Award-winning artist and choreographer Eshe Light for an open workshop in August.

As Lessons by Lexe enters its next decade, the studio remains rooted at Pine Ridge Marketplace, continuing to grow alongside the Prescott community while providing a space where dancers can develop both artistically and personally.

“For me, success has always been about the people,” Hudson said. “Watching dancers and families embrace this studio as their own has been the most meaningful part of the journey.”
