On Friday, May 15, 2026, at approximately 11:26 PM, the Prescott Police Department responded to a single-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle located in the 900 block of East Gurley Street.
Upon arrival, officers determined that a 2006 Harley-Davidson motorcycle had been traveling eastbound on Gurley Street when the driver, a 73-year-old Prescott resident, failed to negotiate the curve in the roadway, causing the motorcycle to hit the curb. After hitting the curb, the driver lost control and was thrown from the motorcycle.
Personnel from the Prescott Fire Department and EMS responded to provide emergency aid. The driver was then transported to the Yavapai Regional Medical Center west campus but unfortunately died from his injuries.
Gurley Street was shut down for about 6 hours while officers investigated the scene.
Witnesses reported observing the motorcycle driving at what they described as a high rate of speed just before the accident. Impairment is also believed to be a factor in the crash.
The Prescott Police Department is actively investigating this incident. Anyone who witnessed the crash, observed the vehicle beforehand or has any other information is encouraged to contact Detective Dan Bardon at (928) 777‑1988.
